Jewson Associates - Independent Investment Consultants

Alternative Investments
We offer advice on a range of alternative investments and their differing advantages and disadvantages. Initally, we look at how alternative investments might fit into an overall investment strategy dependent on the individual risk profile and investment objectives of each client. Then we advise on the selection of suitable funds to fit in with the agreed strategy and will monitor the performance of the funds on an ongoing basis, advising clients of any concerns we may have, recommending any necessary changes and regularly reviewing the overall investment strategy.

Hedge Funds
There are advantages and disadvantages to investing in funds of hedge funds or individual hedge funds and these are debated in relation to the individual needs of the client. We advise on a broad range of hedge fund strategies, each with its own return, volatility and correlation characteristics, and recommend the most suitable strategy allocation for each client's specific requirements.

Private Equity
Like hedge funds, private equity has seen a significant influx of new managers and funds over the past few years, which has resulted in a significant increase in the dispersion of returns. We advise on the wide variety of private equity funds available and determine those types of funds that are most suitable for each client's requirements. Private equity investments are illiquid and holdings must be viewed as long term as funds may be committed for several years.

Property Funds
This is an area that has seen a huge inflow of capital, given the attractive returns on offer in the sector in the current low return environment. It is a sector that has a low correlation to equities, making it an attractive asset for risk diversification, but it also should be noted that this is another illiquid sector. We advise on the various types of indirect property investment
and the most suitable approach for our clients.
